Love, Your G.I. Son — Karen Swanson

From the Back:  “No my dear mother, my mind does not devour all the hate in the world and evil that goes on.” Over 1,000 World War II Veterans die each day. Their legacy needs to be preserved. Love, Your G.I. Son says a lot more than a tombstone ever could. These letters to Erik Hobar’s mother were written from 1943 to 1945 from the South Pacific. Author Kären Swanson found her father’s letters after his death and was then able to reconnect with family members to learn more about him, his Norwegian ancestry, and his Hollywood connection with Charlie Chaplin’s first film Gold Rush and the Douglas Fairbanks pirate movies. This compilation of her memories is sure to inspire others to see their own heritage in a new way.

 

A collection of letters from a veteran of the Greatest Generation is sure to pull on the heart strings…..right?
